When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold, your son!"

Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!" And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.

Enthroning Mary in our home

By the enthronement of Our Lady as Queen of their home, the faithful are invited to respond to Christ's call made at the moment of his blessed Passion, to take Mary into their homes.

"Do not fear to take Mary home" (cf Mt 1, 20). Like saint Joseph in Nazareth and saint John at the foot of the Cross, they welcome the Mother of God into their houses and their daily lives, so that She can help them to sanctify all areas of their existence, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

The enthronement of Mary, Immaculate Queen in homes is a specific apostolate of the Fraternity, a treasure which is its mission to make known, within the Church.

The Enthronement : practical points

Who enthrones Mary?
All the faithful who wish to dedicate their lives and homes to Mary.

How does the enthronement take place?
The enthronement takes place during a simple family ceremony, led by a member of the Fraternity, or by a messenger mandated for this. After the blessing of the home and a sharing of the Word of God, a picture, statue or icon of Our Lady is put in a place of honour in the home or workplace. The ceremony concludes with the enthronement prayer, recited before this image.

How should I prepare for the enthronement in my home?
Contact your nearest Fraternity house by phone or email; a programme of preparation will be suggested to you.

Reflection : Opening our lives to God's grace with Mary

couronnement siteBy enthroning the Virgin Mary in our home, we welcome the gift that God gives us in His Mother - "Behold your Mother" (Jn 19, 27) - and we thus respond to a strong desire of the Heart of Christ. "Raised body and soul to the glory of heaven, and exalted by the Lord as Queen of the Universe" (Vatican II, Lumen Gentium 59), Mary must also be welcomed, loved and honoured by her children on earth.

In the enthronement, the Church contemplates and reverences in Mary the great loving plan of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit upon it, on behalf of all creation : we make manifest the glorious role given by God himself to Mary. In her, Jesus' prayer to the Father is already fully answered : "Father, I desire also that those whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to behold my glory which you have given me in your love for me before the foundation of the world." (Jn 17, 24)

By chosing to enthrone Mary as Queen of our home, we wish to allow her to take over our lives, so the She may teach us to receive God's grace and make of us true sons and daughters of the Church.

We wish to learn from her to love on earth as in heaven : our lives will thus become living witnesses to God's charity.

O Mary, Mother of Jesus and Mother of humanity, Immaculate Queen of the Universe,
Triumph and Reign !
